ISSWatch for Pebble

Feb 22, 2014

The Pebble Watch is an amazing device with so much potential.

Being able to access useful information on your wrist without having to pull your phone out of your pocket fills me with excitement for the future of wearables.

Since purchasing my own Pebble on Kickstarter I’ve been playing around in it’s development environment and sprung upon an idea that I thought would be incredibly useful, hence ISSWatch was born.

ISSWatch is a Pebble App that informs you of the upcoming passover times of the International Space Station (ISS).

The App uses the JavaScript API and although v1.0 is fairly basic in functionality right now, it’s still functional and useful. It uses GPS to determine your current location and then presents you with the next 5 overhead passes of the Space Station.

I’m planning to add some additional functionality going forward, such as only showing visible passes, the length of time of the pass and integrating with weather services so you know if there’ll be clear skies overhead.

You can download ISSWatch from the Pebble App Store.
